For a college scholarship, what qualifies as a “minority”?

My dad is a European caucasian. My mom, however, was born and raised in Venezuela, along with all her siblings. The only thing is, her parents actually immigrated from Madeira, Portugal. Would I actually qualify for a scholarship, or is this just wishful thinking?

you could probably qualify for plenty of scholarships, you just need to research them individually to figure out their specific requirements

When you fill out forms and it asks the race question, Caucasian, African American, Hispanic, etc. if you answer Caucasian or white, you are not a minority.

I would look into it and ask the scholarship provider. Never assume. Normally, visible minorities are anything but caucasian.

Scholarships and grants are out there you just have to search, but here is a site that I use: http://grantlisting.blogspot.com/
