Power into Portugal with the help of professional parcel delivery services

Parcel delivery to Portugal is straightforward and speedy, thanks to the major international delivery companies which compete for business in the busy south-west European markets.
Portugal joined the European Community in 1986, and adopted the single currency in 1998. While its economy has been re-focused from one based on agriculture and manufacturing to one with an emphasis on services such as finance, insurance and telecommunications, it is still hampered by a poor educational system.
It has also faced difficulties in attracting inward investment due to the increasing shift to producers from central Europe and Asia who offer lower cost bases.
None of this, however, detracts from the attractiveness of the country as a tourist destination, and it is making increasing efforts to market itself around the world as a country with extensive natural attractions.
Between 1970 and 2000, the country’s population rose by 20 per cent, and that figure is still regularly boosted by more retirees, principally from the UK, deciding to choose Portugal as their ideal retirement location. The tourist hotspots of the Algarve and Madeira have particularly large British expatriate communities, the climate and relatively unspoilt nature of these areas proving particularly attractive.
There is still a large amount of state influence in many of Portugal’s key business and industry sectors, with the government heavily involved in the water, banking, railways, postal services, agriculture and media sectors. Private investment has been particularly marked in the motor industry, with Volkswagen operating a large factory in Palmela, which builds vehicles such as the Volkswagen Eos and Scirocco, and the VW Sharan and SEAT Alhambra people-carriers.
Portugal has several large sea ports which handle significant volumes of traffic from all over the world, while three international airports, at Lisbon, Porto and Faro, are the main conduits through which passengers and cargo flow into the country. A replacement airport is planned for Lisbon, where the existing terminal, although centrally located, has been surrounded by residential development, which has made access a problem.
As a full EU member, there are no major obstacles to businesses entering the Portuguese market, and the existence of reliable and cost-effective transcontinental delivery services makes sending goods straightforward. So whether it is a gift to an ex-pat friend or family member, or a vital consignment for a business partner, international delivery specialists are on hand to ensure that every parcel reaches its destination promptly and economically.
A wide range of parcel delivery services to Portugal can be found by searching online. Competition between major international couriers has led to greater availability of cheap delivery facilities.
